No COLA next year for Social Security-reDICKulus

I just got this from AARP
reDICKulus

I just received some bad news for you and everyone who depends on Social Security.

The Social Security Administration just announced that, as a result of the weak economy, there will be no Social Security Cost-Of-Living Adjustment (COLA) in 2010. So, instead of seeing an increase in your check next year, your benefits will be frozen.

Since this announcement, we’ve heard from thousands of AARP members who were counting on their yearly increase to help pay for food, utilities and health care. They’re worried that, without their COLA, they won’t be able to make ends meet.

We want you to know we’re here to be your voice in Washington and we’re going to fight to make sure you get some relief in the absence of a COLA.

Right now, we’re working with members of Congress from both parties to find a solution to this problem that will put some money directly in your pocket. We’ve put these lawmakers on notice that our members need relief, they expect relief, and we’re going to fight to ensure that they get relief.
